Keeping your hospital staff safe and patients well during the coronavirus disease pandemic is our top priority. Our team joins yours in working hard to relieve the pressures the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) is putting on healthcare organizations everywhere.

To serve you better, we have rolled out additional hospital system solutions and services to support you right now. These latest solutions are in addition to the package we announced March 18 to identify and treat patients virtually.

Right now, the Allscripts Hospital Management Package provides a series of COVID-19 workflows that addresses disease-specific needs within SunriseTM EHR, Paragon® EHR and Allscripts® Care Director:

• Sunrise COVID-19 Response Workflow

Capturing confirmed or suspected COVID-19 disease statuses and keeping staff informed are paramount to combatting the spread and protecting healthcare workers. Sunrise COVID-19 response package can help Sunrise users streamline screening and surveillance.

These screening steps deliver guidance for identifying and tracking patients with confirmed and suspected coronavirus disease (COVID-19). It includes Screening templates based on CDC guidelines, automatic updates to Tracking Board and Patient Header, and instructions to care teams to initiate treatment protocols.
For virtual encounters, we offer a Phone Note add-in that enables staff to triage and direct patients inside Sunrise EHR. The screening note and add-in for virtual encounters can be downloaded and installed by clients or obtained through our services teams.

• SOFA/qSOFA Auto-Calculation

In response to the high demand for critical care services, hospital staff are increasingly using Sequential Organ Failure Assessments (SOFA) and quick SOFA (qSOFA) tools. We have made an auto-calculator available to clients using Sunrise EHR. The tool reads data and calculates SOFA scores on-demand and staff can generate daily reports and trends over time.

• Paragon COVID-19 Rules Engine Alert

Identifying high-risk COVID-19 patients and alerting staff to implement appropriate workflows and care delivery measures are critical functions for driving improved responses and outcomes. Paragon® Rules Engine Novel Coronavirus Alert helps Paragon clients identify and proactively respond to patient status from the Emergency Department and the Clinical CareStation, promoting efficiency in care delivery.

Paragon rules are based on CDC recommendations and enables users to perform an initial screen on patients for COVID-19 and alert front line clinical staff.

• Surveillance and Regulatory Reporting

Health systems need ongoing information on patients, resources and utilization trends daily, if not more frequently. Through a rapid design and build approach, our teams have released Allscripts® Clinical Performance Management COVID-19 Surveillance and Reports. This report pack includes COVID-19 Patient Surveillance, High-Risk Patient Pursuit List, Daily Lab Reporting and Hospital Capacity Planning Report. The Daily Lab Report and Hospital Capacity Report meet the recent White House request for hospitals to deliver daily updates to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Reports are available through a Patch Release and many clients have already been using these reports.

• Care Management for COVID-19

Proactive identification of patients with various risk levels for COVID-19 infection can help mitigate the spread. Allscripts® Care Director COVID-19-specific workflows enable organizations to be proactive in the identification and documentation of appropriate care plans.

Allscripts Care Director is a web-based solution that helps organizations coordinate outpatient care across the continuum. It fills the gaps, helping organizations move to value-based care, manage total population health, ensure appropriateness of care across all care settings and achieve high-quality outcomes.

• Connecting Communities for COVID-19

Clinicians can more readily identify confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients and receive notifications at the point of care with tools that enable management of all COVID-19 data. Clinicians need the ability to manage all COVID-19 coming from disparate systems and from multiple facilities. dbMotion™ for COVID-19 helps clinicians understand the health of the overall population and slow the spread of the disease.

• Professional and Managed Services: Keep IT operations running optimally

Help desk and staff augmentation services enable organizations to shift staff and IT teams to focus on pandemic response activities. Our teams are helping clients take on support roles, build COVID-19-related configuration, stand up pop-up locations and help them stay on-track with software installs and upgrades. While most operations have moved to virtual settings, our teams are checking in with clients regularly.

Previously, Allscripts made updates across each of its electronic health record solutions. One example was updating clinical decision support tools in its EHRs with the most current screening tools and CDC recommendations.

Allscripts also offers specific solutions that can help providers fight the spread of COVID-19, including FollowMyHealth® Telehealth, Allscripts Virtual Triage and IT Service staffing to supplement clients’ teams.
