Success achieved: In the client’s own words
Anyone working in healthcare is familiar with the necessity (and sometimes pain) of system upgrades. For an activation to be successful, several puzzle pieces must come together to create a complete, cohesive final product. From technical and client support, to project management, all these players must be aligned for an upgrade to be completed, without added stress. Holzer Health System experienced the power of this collaboration during its Paragon 24.1 upgrade. Through its partnership with the Paragon team, Holzer was successful in several key areas throughout their upgrade process.
Navigating through the technical side of the upgrade
There are a lot of moving parts involved in an upgrade. From pre-work and testing to go-live preparation, having a reliable, efficient support team and project manager is crucial in keeping projects on track and on time, ensuring for a smooth, successful system activation. Holzer experienced the impact of exactly that.
As reported by Holzer’s Director of IT, Austin D. Willoughby, “This activation was one of our better Paragon upgrade activations. A lot of such success was due to the pre-work and testing done during our go-live prep. Our Altera PM did a great job keeping a list of ongoing items and making sure they were addressed weekly in our project calls. That level of oversight and tracking is what made this activation so successful.”
“I’ve been through many Paragon upgrades over the years, and Altera continues to improve and focus on making the client experience better for us.”

Staying ahead of the upgrade curve
Having a team you can rely on to manage all the upgrade details enables clinicians and administrators to focus on what matters most—without getting weighed down in the process. Holzer was able to continue delivering excellent patient care, while the dedicated Paragon team handled all the back-end work.
Willoughby had the following to say about the upgrade process: “The Paragon 24.1 upgrade didn’t have any major setbacks, which enabled us to continue treating patients without system issues. It was a positive activation and post-live environment. Altera’s project methodology has improved over the years, and it shows.”
