Over the years, SKH has been able to progressively digitise its clinical
processes, such as implementing Sunrise Surgical Care to provide a
continuous, patient-level record that meets the distinct IT needs of surgical
and perioperative care, including pre-operative orders and documentation.
This has helped to enhance inpatient safety and improve care delivery
efficiency. The hospital also uses the data from Sunrise Surgical Care for
operations, planning and research.

Patients admitted to SKH are treated holistically, with a focus on acute
medical care to treat and stabilise their conditions. Patients benefit from
having a primary doctor oversee and coordinate their care throughout
their hospitalisation and follow-up visits, ensuring patient-centric care that
supports better health outcomes.

“SKH opened smoothly while pioneering inpatient clinical documentation on Sunrise. We took the opportunity to review existing workflows to take advantage of the information flows provided by the platform. We are now working towards better integration between institutions across the cluster.”

Dr Aaron Lee, Chief Medical

Informatics Officer, SKH

“Being able to see case lists within Sunrise has led to a greater integration
between clinical management and scheduling. Clinicians can better manage
their lists, paying attention to the changing clinical context of each case.
Handovers are also faster and safer as all the documentation is stored on
Sunrise. By having live status updates of progress across our operating
theatres, our ground staff can optimise operating theatre utilisation and
productivity,” said Dr Aaron Lee, Chief Medical Informatics Officer.

In a high-acuity healthcare environment, an IT surgical tool that is relevant for
the entire care continuum and unified with continuous patient records from
Allscripts Sunrise provides a robust surgical solution. It helps teams collaborate,
share information and co-design the care plan so patients can get a head start
in the healing process—often beginning their rehabilitation early while still
receiving inpatient medical treatment.

“With the implementation of Sunrise Surgical Care on existing Sunrise
platform, users are able to have a more unified view of patient records,
which will improve operational efficiencies in patient care. With increasing reliance on system availability, it is essential to have a responsive support team that can help us to resolve issues, ensuring the smooth running of our systems and operations.”
