Improving the anaesthetist experience
“RAH is pleased with the uptake of Provation iPro,” notes Nursing Unit Manager Louise McGuire. “The rollout of AIMS has been pretty seamless. The business analysts and change agents worked with us on the implementation of Provation iPro to enable it to be a really easy roll out for the hospital. It went really well. Staff adapted easily, and the uptake was quick.”
Anaesthetists are also pleased with the new solution. Some anaesthetists
became proficient in the system in less than a day, demonstrating how easy it
is to learn and use. Provation iPro also enables RAH anaesthetists to automate collection and recording of data from devices, resulting in more efficient workflows. Information collected during pre-op is readily accessible during future visits, improving patient safety by reducing the likelihood of errors.
Dr. Murphy is pleased with the progress at RAH. “What we ended up with is a
very enjoyable product to use. And it seems to be quite highly regarded across the clinical user base,” he said. RAH looks forward to its ongoing partnership with Altera Digital Health. Dr. Murphy and Nurse Unit Manager McGuire note that vendor responsiveness was critical to the success of this experience and they look forward to ongoing development and continual enhancements that support clinical needs from a vendor that understands both technology and clinical workflows.
“When you get anaesthetists going out of their way to visit you to thank you for AIMS, you know it is doing a good job. One of the overarching comments is how simple it is to use and how great a job we— the RAH project team, Altera Digital Health and Provation— have done, and how well we listened to what they wanted.”
